Who We Are - The Tallman Story

Several Years ago our Family established The Tallman Foundation and began to focus on Educational and Community needs in Winnipeg’s North End.

Our family’s roots run deep in The North End as Harvey attended St. John’s Tech and Cathy attended Sisler High School. As we began to develop a series of Community Programs our relationships with the North End began to grow. From the Boys and Girls Club to numerous elementary schools we have begun to build a network of caring and dedicated individuals who share our desire to make the North End of Winnipeg a better place.

Three years ago we began to distribute First Degree scholarships to students at St. Johns and Sisler. With 16 more scholarships to be presented to students in 8 different high schools in June of 2011, we will now be sponsoring 30 students. Our goal is to continue to grow this program so that more students from these schools will be able to aspire to better lives. Please take a moment to read our students stories, they are engaging and show the promise of our youth.

One of the things that we have taken from this experience is clear knowledge that the students that we sponsor lack only the opportunity compared to children from other areas of the city. Our goal is to provide that opportunity to an increasing number of very talented and passionate young adults. One of the most exciting things for us is that we have had 9 families each offer a full four-year scholarship through our foundation. As we continue to grow we are hoping to see more families and companies join us.

There are many sponsors and friends who are an integral part of our foundation who work with our Executive Director Lorraine Maciboric, who ties things together.

Thanks for taking the time to look at our Foundation, and we invite you to join us in helping to make the North End, and Winnipeg, a better place.

One Student, One Child, One Family at a time!
